A Fairlife milk processing dairy plant in Webster, NY needed a valve solution to integrate into their existing waste water system.

The Challenge:
The R.M. Headlee team partnered with the Fairlife dairy plant to define the project scope and determine the type of valve required. Dairy plants need to be kept clean to adhere to food and beverage industry quality standards, regularly utilizing cleaning chemicals. The selected valve needed to withstand regular exposure to harsh chemicals and handle the corrosive waste stream of the plant.
The Solution:
After investigating the existing waste water infrastructure in the plant and understanding the amount and types of chemicals used in the cleaning process, R.M. Headlee found the ideal valve for the project.
R.M. Headlee provided multiple Elite E5400 General Purpose Knife Gate Valve (KGV) in Class 150 Lugged RF, MSS-SP81 in a variety of sizes including 2”, 3”, 4”, 6”, 8”, 10”, 12”, 16”, and 20”. Elite’s KGV was ideal because it is made of resistant, high quality stainless steel. The stainless steel body withstands the frequent washdowns of harsh chemicals and the valve is designed to handle slurry based waste streams.
The Result:
The Fairlife plant now has a fully functional waste water system, equipped to resist the continual chemical exposure in the pipes that is washed away and used in the facility cleaning process.
